Biography

Tom Blundell is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Wellington. His cricketing journey began at Wellington College, where his talent was nurtured, leading to his selection for New Zealand's squad in the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Though he played only one game, it provided a platform for his future.

Blundell made his first-class debut for Wellington in 2013 but endured a modest start to his domestic career. His breakthrough came in the 2015-16 season, with consistent performances that caught the attention of national selectors. Another standout domestic season saw him debut in T20Is for New Zealand in January 2017 against Bangladesh, stepping in for the injured Luke Ronchi.

Later that year, Blundell made his Test debut during the West Indies series, filling in for the injured BJ Watling. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring an unbeaten 107, a dream start to his Test career. Recognizing his growing importance, New Zealand Cricket awarded him a central contract ahead of the 2019–20 season, solidifying his place in the national setup as a dependable wicketkeeper-batter.
