Biography

Lance Richard Thomas Morris is a powerful Australian cricketer, known for his blistering pace as a right-arm fast bowler. Representing the Australian national team in One Day Internationals, Morris plays for Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers, where his raw pace and aggressive style have earned him recognition as one of the fastest bowlers in the country. Before joining the Scorchers, he had a stint with the Melbourne Stars, where he made his Big Bash League debut in January 2020.

Born in Busselton, Western Australia, Morris moved to Perth in 2016 to further his cricket career. His dedication and hard work quickly paid off, as he made his T20 debut for the Melbourne Stars during the 2019–20 BBL season. After spending another season with the Stars, he signed with the Perth Scorchers for the 2021–22 season, where he played a crucial role in their back-to-back championship victories in both 2021–22 and 2022–23.

Morris has remained with the Perth Scorchers until at least the end of the 2024–25 season, after securing a two-year contract with the club. His first-class debut came in October 2020 for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield, and he made his List A debut in April 2021 during the Marsh One-Day Cup. Morris’s impact in domestic cricket was immediate, with a standout performance in the 2021–22 Sheffield Shield final, where he helped Western Australia claim their first title in 23 years.

Continuing his rise, Morris was included in the Australian Test squad for the West Indies tour in December 2022. He also toured with the Australian Test squad to South Africa and India. In January 2024, Morris received his first call-up to the Australian ODI squad for their series against the West Indies, marking the beginning of his international career in limited-overs cricket. Morris made his ODI debut on February 2, 2024, and a few days later, in the third match of the series, he claimed his first international wicket, recording impressive figures of 2/13 from 4.3 overs in a dominant Australian victory at Manuka Oval.
